For painters and decorators

Don't spend your evening on the quote.

Talk me through the job on site, the way you'd explain it to a colleague: the walls and ceilings, the new plaster, the filling, the woodwork. I'll split it into lines with your prices. You check it, and you send it.

What you say on site (sample)

“Lounge, then the hall, stairs and landing. Lounge walls, two coats of white matt, about forty-two square metres, and the ceiling's sixteen. The chimney breast's been replastered, so that wants a mist coat first, call it eight square metres. Hall, stairs and landing walls, two coats, thirty-eight square metres. The cracks up the stairwell need filling and sanding, say three hours, but I'll know better once they're raked out. Three doors with their frames in satinwood. Plus dust sheets, masking up and moving the furniture.”

How it works

From the survey to the quote you send.

1Talk me through the job

In your own words: how many square metres of wall and ceiling, where there's new plaster, what needs filling, how many doors. You can say the price too. Dictation is in beta during the pilot, so you can always type instead.

2I'll split it into lines

Labour and materials on separate lines, with quantity and unit: m², m, each, hours. The prices come from your own price list. Anything I'm not sure of, I mark for you to check.

3You check it and send it

Correct what needs correcting, then send it with your logo and business details. Your customer can accept it or ask for changes. Nothing goes out without your approval.

To check

If I'm not sure, I mark it.

When a quantity is an estimate, a price is missing or a line isn't clear, the line is marked “To check”, with a specific question next to it. For example: “The hours are an estimate: rake out the cracks first, then confirm how much filling they need.”

I never approve a price for you, and I never make one up. You decide on every marked line, and your customer only gets the quote you've approved.

Your prices

Your rates, your quote.

  • You set and change your own rates: walls and ceilings per m², doors each, filling by the hour, your day rate.
  • Labour and materials go on separate lines, so your customer can see what's paint and what's labour.
  • Price in m² or sq ft, metres or feet, or by the day. Your price list and your quote stay in the unit you chose, in pounds and pence.
  • VAT at 20% or No VAT, depending on whether you're VAT-registered.

Frequently asked questions

Worth knowing before your first quote.

What does it cost?

Nothing during the UK pilot. After that it's £19/month with unlimited quotes. Mondigo is for business use only, so no UK VAT is added: if you're VAT-registered, you account for it under the reverse charge.

Do I use my own prices?

Always. You set and change your own rates. I work from your prices and never make one up; when something is unclear, I mark it for you to check. Nothing goes out without your approval.

What if the customer buys the paint?

Say so when you talk me through the job. When you check the quote, you decide which lines stay: if you're not supplying the paint, delete the materials line and only the labour goes out.

Can I price by the square metre or by the day?

Either. Walls and ceilings go on in m², doors and frames as each, filling and prep by the hour, or the whole job at your day rate. Price in m² or sq ft, metres or feet, at your own prices.

How does my customer get the quote?

You send it. Your customer opens it from a link, where they can accept it or ask for changes. It's also available as a PDF.

What happens to my data?

The app and its database run in the EU, in Warsaw. I don't keep your voice as an audio file, and in Settings you can download your data or delete your account.
